91-year-old forced to move due to "squalid living conditions"
A 91-year-old man has been forced to move out of his Coventry home of 30 years because he says his life has been made hell by “squalid living conditions”.
Ken Martin moved into his sheltered accommodation flat - which is specifically for over-50s - in Coronation Road, Hillfields, in the 80s.
But recently the property has been covered with blood-smeared walls, drug paraphenalia and condom wrappers.
Drug users have begun to congregate at the flats, managed by social housing provider, Stonewater Housing, with syringe wrappers and broken beer cans littering communal areas.
Ken Martin’s life has been made “hell”, his granddaughter said, by people buzzing the widower’s flat at 3am and using drugs in communal areas.
Laura Martin said:
Laura said that when she has gone round to see her Grandad, people have buzzed Ken’s flat and been threatening towards him.
She added:
Stonewater Housing was contacted for comment.
