Parkour - the new sport on the block in the Midlands
It's featured in Bond and Jason Bourne films and countless adverts, and now Parkour - or free running - has been named as an official sport.
Parkour or free running was developed in France in the 1980's. It involves running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping and rolling.
The term comes from the French word Parcours meaning ‘route’ or ‘course’.
As a discipline, it focuses on developing strength and fitness, balance, spatial awareness, agility, coordination, precision, control and creativity.
The sport aims to build confidence, determination, self-discipline and self-reliance.
The UK has become the first country in the world to officially recognise it as a sport through Sport England.
Here's Brendan Riley talking to our reporter Alice Key about the sport and the group he's involved in the West Midlands:
So how can you get involved?
