EXCLUSIVE: John McGovern on Nottingham Forest takeover collapse, relegation risk & manager vacancy
By James Clark, ITV News Central Sports Reporter
The man who captained Nottingham Forest to two successive European Cup victories in the late 1970s and early 80s says he was disappointed when he found out the proposed takeover of the club had collapsed.
Forest were on the verge of being purchased by American businessman and multi-millionaire John Jay Moores. But last Friday night the proposed deal dramatically fell through.
Forest are at risk of relegation. They sit just three points above the drop zone and haven't won in their last seven league matches.
They're also without a permanent manager after Philippe Montanier was sacked last weekend.
John McGovern, who now works as a Club Ambassador at Nottingham Forest, has spoken exclusively to our Sports Reporter James Clark.
