Driver has astonishing escape after car falls 30 feet

A driver had an astonishing escape after her car veered off the road and fell 30ft into a pedestrianised subway underneath the Coventry ring road.

The female driver suffered just minor injuries after her car drove off the road into the subway under the ring road at junction four.

The car was almost completely destroyed as its windows shattered and its doors crumpled.

The incident happened around 10.30pm on Sunday night and the driver was able to get out of the car before ambulance crews arrived - despite the severity of the damage to the car.

The woman, who was in her 20s, complained of lower back pain and was treated and taken to University Hospital Coventry.
