Young drivers targeted in road safety talk
Newly qualified and learner drivers, their parents and driving instructors are being invited to a Staffordshire workshop to help improve road safety in the county.
The free event is being hosted by the Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership and aims to highlight the importance of safer driving.
Winter Driving, Tyre Safety, Vehicle modifications, driving on rural roads and the consequences of speeding, drink and drug driving or using mobile phones will be amongst the topics being discussed.
Speaking on behalf of the Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership, Mark Deaville, Cabinet Member for Transport and Highways at Staffordshire County Council said:
Research suggests that 23 per cent of 18 – 24 year olds have been involved in a collision whilst driving within 6 months of passing their test.The Partnership will also be raising awareness of the Consultation around allowing learner drivers to take lessons on motorways.Mark added:
The talk will be held at Staffordshire Police Headquarters on Beaconside in Stafford on Thursday 26th January, 6pm to 8.30pm.
