Carer travels to Syria to fight against ISIS terrorists
A care worker from Nottinghamshire has travelled to Syria for the second time to fight against the so-called Islamic State terror group.
Aiden Aslin first flew out to Syria in 2015 to fight alongside Kurdish forces. He'd given up his job as a carer after watching coverage about the plight of people there at the hands of IS.
Three months ago there was relief for 22-year-old Aiden and his family when he was told he wouldn't face any terrorism charges for his previous visit to the war-zone.
Aiden's one of several Britons who've travelled to Syria to fight IS. Two years ago ex-Royal Marine Kosta Scurfield from Nottingham was killed. And just before Christmas, another British citizen Ryan Lock died during an anti-IS offensive. The Home office say:
