Former Port Vale captain Matt Carragher dies aged 40

Tributes have been paid to Port Vale's former captain Matt Carragher who's died at the age of 40.

Carragher played 220 games for the club between 1997 and 2003. He captained the side when the club won LDV trophy in 2001.

Tony Barrett described his death as horrible news and said he was a brilliant footballer.

In a tweet Port Vale said they are planning to hold a minutes applause for Matt ahead of tonight's game against Chesterfield.
