Guide: Christmas Cathedral services in the Midlands

If you are planning to go to a service at one of the region's cathedrals this Christmas Day, here is a run through of some of the services which are being held across the Midlands.

West Midlands services:

  • Coventry Cathedral: The Cathedral Eucharist takes place at 10.30am on Christmas Day and will feature carols, hymns and an address from the Lord Bishop of Coventry.

  • Worcester Cathedral: The Cathedral Eucharist will take place at 10.30am, with a Choral Evensong in the afternoon with carols at 4pm.

  • Birmingham Cathedral: There will be a Choral Eucharist at 11am with the Bishop of Birmingham, followed by Evening Prayer at 3.30pm.

  • Lichfield Cathedral: Holy Communion will take place at 8am, followed by Choral Eucharist at 11am and Evening Prayer with Carols at 3.00pm.

  • Hereford Cathedral: Holy Communion with hymns takes place at 8am followed by Cathedral Eucharist at 10am, Choral Matins at 11.30am and Choral Evensong at 3.30pm.

East Midlands services:

  • Peterborough Cathedral: Holy Communion at 8am is followed by Matins at 10am and the Cathedral Eucharist at 11am. Festival Evensong will take place at 3.30pm.

  • Northampton Cathedral: Mass of the Dawn takes places at 8.30am followed by Mass at 10.30am.

  • Leicester Cathedral: A Christmas morning service sung by the Cathedral Choir with carols, incense and Holy Communion at 10:30am.

  • St Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham: There are masses at 8am, 10am and 11.15am but there is no Evening Mass.

  • Derby Cathedral: The Christmas Cathedral Eucharist is at 10.45am.

  • Lincoln Cathedral: Holy Communion takes place at 8am followed by procession and Sung Eucharist at 10.30am and Holy Communion at 12.30pm. Evensong and Procession takes place at 3.45pm.
