Leicestershire families encouraged to foster unaccompanied asylum children
Families in Leicestershire are being encouraged to consider fostering children who arrive in this country seeking asylum without relatives.
An information event later today will give them more information about how they go about becoming a foster family for children and young people arriving from abroad.
Leicestershire County Council’s fostering recruitment team can answer questions about fostering and supporting children and young people seeking asylum on their own.
There has already been a month-long digital campaign to recruit carers, which resulted in more than 100 enquiries from people wanting to help.
The drop-in session will take place at The City Retreat in Church Gate, Leicester, from 11am -2pm.
