5 things you didn't know about the M6 Toll - as it welcomes its 200 millionth customer
The 200 millionth customer to drive through the M6 Toll will be identified today - and they will get one year's free passage.
Midland Expressway Limited, which operates the toll, will invite its 200 millionth customer to be the guest of honour at its 'Freebie Friday' event today at Roadchef, the Norton Canes motorway services.
Things you might not have known about the M6 Toll:
The M6 toll stretches for 27 miles from Junction 11a on the M6 near Cannock, Staffordshire, rejoining the M6 at Junction 3a at Coleshill, Warwickshire.
It is Britain's only privately funded motorway.
It was built following £1bn of private investment - no taxpayer funding has been used to build or operate the road.
More than 52,000 cars use the M6 toll every day.
Of the approximated 54,000 through traffic journeys (M6 J3a-11a) each day, during peak hours, the M6 toll has 75-80% capture.
