999 call for broken toilet
They've received some odd calls in the past, and this is one of the latest...
West Midlands Ambulance service answered a call by one member of the public who asked how best to fix their broken toilet.
After the operator informed the caller on the misuse of a 999 line, handlers got another call asking how to set up a new mobile phone.
The calls have now prompted the busy service to issue a public plea to think if they have a genuine emergency before calling.
The ambulance service later said in a statement:
These hoax calls follow a host of others, with the service revealing that a hedgehog scaring some children and a demand for a glass of water were among just two of the ridiculous reasons people have dialled 999.
