A group of MPs claim to have discovered a secret recording device concealed in their private meeting room during an unannounced visit to Sports Direct.

They were carrying out an on-the-spot inspection at the company's warehouse in Shirebrook in Derbyshire when the incident is said to have taken place.

Anna Turley, MP for Redcar, tweeted a photo this evening of what she described as a 'camera' discovered in the room, where members of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee were discussing their visit.

She described how a female member of staff had come in with a plate of sandwiches, but had taken a suspiciously long time to place the platter down.

The MP claims to have seen her 'put a recording device on the floor' underneath the stool where she had placed the sandwiches.

Iain Wright, chair of the committee, said he was 'disappointed' at the spirit in which the company had conducted their visit and described the planting of a recording device as 'absolutely disgraceful'.
