Gary Lineker to attend solidarity protest for vulnerable children in Calais

Former Leicester City footballer Gary Lineker will join more than 1,000 people standing in solidarity with refugee children in the Calais 'Jungle'.

It's part of a move by campaigners to put pressure on the Government to help those stranded in the camp.

They are calling on top politicians to accelerate the process to enable unaccompanied children to be offered safe refuge in Britain.

The solidarity event 'Love In Action Have a Heart' will be taking place this morning at the Millennium Bridge in London.

Around 1,200 people are expected to join the demonstration to symbolise the 1,200 unaccompanied child refugees living in the camp.

They will wear red and carry red heart banners, flags and posters.

The TV presenters appearance comes after he received backlash for saying the treatment of young migrants arriving in the UK was "hideously racist".

The Sun newspaper claimed the BBC was "under pressure to fire" Lineker over the comments, but the former footballer dismissed it.
