Man in court on murder charge after headless body found in lay-by

A 42-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murder in connection with the discovery of a badly burned headless body in a lay-by.

Ming Jiang, of Falconwood Way in the Beswick area of Manchester, is accused of murdering Yang Liu between October 5 and 10 in the city.

The remains were discovered in a parking area off the A628 to the east of Tintwistle, Derbyshire, police said.

During a brief appearance at Chesterfield Justice Centre, Jiang spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

He is due to next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody.
