Dog brings in tiny tortoise
A dog owner from Tipton in Sandwell got a shock when his dog brought a tiny tortoise into the house on Sunday.
The RSPCA was called in to safely retrieve the one-year-old reptile, before taking him to a nearby specialist exotic vet.
They're now trying to establish where the tortoise came from.
RSPCA inspector Dawn Burrell said:
The reptiles need a specific environment and temperature in order to be healthy. Mr Burrell added that "a lot of people don’t realise what they are taking on when they buy them".
The spur thigh tortoise, now named Terry, is being cared for at the veterinary practice and is doing well.
