Is it a record breaker? Hen lays huge egg
A hen has somehow managed to lay an egg that’s four times the average size - to the amazement of her owner.Alison Savidge discovered the egg in her pet chicken BB's nesting place, by their home in Turves near Peterborough.
BB is a three year old Black Maran. Her giant egg is over nine centimetres long - that's more than three and a half inches. It weighs in at 175 grams. Normally, a hen’s egg would be expected to weigh just 75 grams. The Savidge family say they're not sure whether BB's egg is a record breaker - and they're divided over whether to eat it.
