Ambulance blocked in for 15 minutes due to bad parking

Crews were called to an address in Bartley Green at 10pm on Saturday after receiving a call to a pregnant woman.An ambulance spokesman said fortunately the woman was able to be treated in her house and did not need taking to hospital.But he said when crews got back in their vehicle and tried to leave, they found they couldn’t because of badly parked cars.

It meant the ambulance was stranded for 15 minutes whilst paramedics knocked on doors asking people to move their vehicles.This incident is the latest of many in the West Midlands where 999 crews have found their access blocked by inconsiderate parking.

They are now tackling the problem by tweeting pictures of bad parking to “shame” drivers.

And Bartley Green seemed to be particularly bad for selfishly-parked cars.A spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said:
