Plans to provide a temporary GP service for under threat surgery abandoned
GP practices in Whitchurch in Shropshire could be forced to take on thousands of extra patients after plans to find alternative provision for a practice threatened with closure were abandoned.
Richmond House Surgery is set to close its doors in October after an appeal to find a new premises failed.
Today health bosses at Shropshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) announced plans to provide a temporary GP service at Whitmore Community Hospital will not go ahead.
David Evans from Shropshire CCG said: “Unfortunately and disappointingly, at the final stage of the procurement process on Friday 16th September the CCG became aware that we had not been successful in securing a caretaker provider."
Last month protests were held in demonstration against its closure. Health bosses will now deliberate about future provision for the surgery's patients.
