Closure-threatened school given stay of execution after "positive" talks
A closure-threatened school has been given a stay of execution after "positive" talks with potential new sponsors.
Baverstock Academy in the Druids Heath area of Birmingham was expected to close within a year, and a consultation set to begin this month, due to major gaps in funding.
But in a letter to leaders at the school's ruling academy trust, Regional Schools Commissioner Pank Patel said a series of talks had been held over the summer - and he now hopes a new deal can be brokered under a new multi-academy trust.
A letter sent from the school to parents confirmed the decision:
Further talks will be held in the coming weeks, with an update due by October half term.
