'Pioneering' new app designed to help cancer patients trialled at Leicester hospital

A pioneering new mobile phone app designed to help cancer patients is being trialled among patients at a hospital in Leicester.

The app named 'My Pancreas' is designed to offer support through every stage of the treatment process for those suffering from pancreatic cancer.

It's taken a year to develop the tool which medical staff can use to help them explain the condition to patients.

Specialists say it's useful for explaining operational procedures, using diagrams and the pictures help the patient see what they're talking about.

So far the reactions are so positive plans there are now plans to extend it to include other forms of cancer diagnoses.
