Thousands of festival-goers had to pull on their wellies for both days at V Festival after a wet weekend for much of the UK.

A fatal multi-vehicle crash on the northbound M6 motorway also closed the carriageway with delays affecting those leaving Staffordshire on Sunday.

But the level of crime at the weekend was low despite 25,000 more festival goers attending each day than previous years.

More than 1,200 people needed medical treatment at the event in Staffordshire.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it had treated 1,218 patients in all with 40 needing to be taken to hospital.

Staffordshire Police said it had made 35 arrests at Weston Park, mostly fordrugs, public order and assaults.

Whilst the number of crimes reported was 64, including sexual offences.

Seven cars were also seized on route for driving without insurance or tax, with one arrest on suspicion of drink-driving, and another for failing to stop.

The force said that "a number of investigations will continue and victims have been offered support".

Staffordshire Police said the force was pleased with how the "low-crime" festival had gone.
