Birmingham dad fighting for life after suspected road rage attack

Police are appealing for information after a suspected road rage attack has left a young Birmingham father fighting for his life.

The assault took place on Gressel Lane in Kitts Green at around 6.30pm yesterday. Police were called to a report of a disorder.

It is believed that a minor collision between a van and car had taken place, and that both drivers had stopped and had got out of their vehicles on the busy main road following the collision.

The van driver is alleged to have punched the 37-year-old driver in what has been described as unprovoked attack. He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains unconscious and in a critical condition.

The driver of the van had left the scene before police arrived.

Anyone with information is urged to call West Midlands Police on 101. Alternatively people can leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers the independent charity on 0800 555 111.
