Road closures in Birmingham as British Cycling Championships arrives

The Championships in Colne on Tuesday

The 2016 British Cycling National Circus Race Championships will take centre stage in Birmingham today.

The men's and women's titles will be decided, with the country's top riders competing for the crown.

The race will take place on a 1.1 km city centre circuit, starting and finishing on Broad Street and taking in Granville Street, Holliday Street and Bridge Street.

Past winners of the event include current road world champion Lizzie Armitstead, Mark Cavendish and Olympic gold medallists Ed Clancy, Joanna Rowsell Shand and Dani King.

The Schedule for the 2016 British Cycling National Circuit Race Championships in Birmingham:

  • 6:30pm: Women's race start (50 minutes plus five laps)

  • 7:30pm: Women's race finishes

  • 7:40pm: Women's podium presentation

  • 8:00pm: Men's race start (50 minutes plus five laps)

  • 9:00pm: Men's race finish

  • 9:10pm: Men's podium presentation

Road restrictions will be in place due to the championships. There will be no vehicle access on Bridge Street, Holliday Street, Granville Street and parts of Broad Street from 16:30 until midnight.
