Sebastian Coe started his education at school in Warwickshire, attending Bridgetown Primary School and Hugh Clopton Secondary School in Stratford-upon-Avon.

He became one of Loughborough University's most famous graduates, winning gold in the 1500 metres and silver in the 800 metres at both the 1980 and 1984 Olympic Games.

Once his athletics career finished, he was elected as a Conservative Member of Parliament for Falmouth and Camborne in 1992.

He was made a Life Peer in 2000, before being knighted in the 2006 Honours List for Services to Sport.

He headed up the bid for London to host the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.

Once that was over, he was named Chairman of the British Olympic Association and President of the IAAF in August 2015
