Hate crime is likely to be an 'ongoing issue' after EU leave vote says Chief Constable
The Chief Constable of West Midlands Police has warned that tackling hate crime is likely to be an “ongoing issue” following the EU referendum result.
Police chief David Thompson had already promised ‘zero tolerance’ of hate crime within days of the EU vote last month.
But in a recent meeting he stressed that although there hasn't been an increase in reports of hate crime, there have been high-profile incidents linked to the vote to leave.
Including leaflets posted through doors in Aston, an ingoing investigation into a petrol bombing in Walsall and people suffering abuse elsewhere.
