MP for Chesterfield resigns from shadow cabinet post

Another Midlands shadow cabinet minister has quit his post following amass exodus of their colleagues over the weekend.

Toby Perkins, the MP for Chesterfield, has resigned as shadow armed forces minister saying that the Labour Party "needs a change at the top".

Jeremy Corbyn is due to meet with the Parliamentary Labour Party on tonight amid a wave of shadow cabinet resignations.

Nineteen Labour MPs have been either been sacked or resigned from their positions in the party in protest at his leadership.
