Labour's Deputy Leader Tom Watson at Glastonbury as party divisions erupt
Labour's deputy leader and West Bromwich MP Tom Watson was enjoying a silent disco at Glastonbury Festival as the party leadership became embroiled in civil war overnight.
The MP posted a video on Snapchat showing a picture of him inside a packed tent at around 3.30am, captioned "silent disco." and with a nerd emoji, moments after news broke that Jeremy Corbyn had sacked shadow foreign secretary Hilary Benn.
The one-minute clip also showed an earlier image of him standing in a muddy field drinking a can of Thatcher's cider, captioned with the words: "A barren wasteland of mud. This is not a metaphor."
He can be seen watching Adele's headline performance on Saturday night and later singing at another intimate gig inside a tent on Sunday morning.Mr Watson, who was elected as Labour's number two in September, was later pictured checking his phone as he waited for a train back to London.
People on social media joked about the number of missed calls he had received, particularly after shadow health secretary Heidi Alexander resigned.
