Singing group launched for people living with dementia
A new singing group for people living with dementia is being launched by the Alzheimer's Society in Leicester today.
"Singing for the Brain" is a programme developed by music specialists to help people with memory problems.
It is achieved through stimulating singing and gentle physical activity.
It is part of a project called Leicester Ageing Together which aims to reduce social isolation among people over the age of 50.
There are currently more than 12,000 people living with dementia in Leicestershire.
Claire Knowles from the Alzheimer's Society in Leicestershire and Rutland said:
The group will meet for the first time today (6 June) at the Wolsey Building in Abbey Park Street from 2pm - 3.30pm and will then meet every Monday.
