Mother 'shocked' after 12ft hole opens up in garden
A Birmingham mother has spoken of her shock after a huge 12 foot hole opened up in her garden after she prodded the earth with a shovel.
Sue Bree, 55, from Erdington, decided she wanted to even out a dip in her lawn.
But when she laid some new soil and prodded the earth with her shovel, the ground just collapsed.
It left her looking down a 5ft-wide cavity that is thought to be an old well.
Mum-of-one Sue said:
Sue called her insurance company and they sent an assessment officer out to examine the lawn.
She said:
Sue has now temporarily closed off the top of the hole, to prevent any accidents.
In the meantime, she is seeking advice on the best way to sort out the unusual problem permanently.
Sue added:
