Travel advice ahead of Leicester's victory parade
Road closures
There will be rolling road closures during the parade tomorrow (May 16), as well as roads closures throughout the day.
London Road, between Waterloo Way and Mayfield Road roundabout, will close to traffic from 18:00 until midnight on May 16.
Granville Road, Victoria Park Road (from Queens Road to London Road) and the junction of Queens Road and Victoria Park Road will all be closed from 6am until midnight on May 16. Careys Close, near St Nicholas Place, will also be closed during the day.
Parking will be suspended on the following roads:
London Road
Victoria Park Road (from Welford Road to Queens Road)
Queens Road (between Victoria Park Road and Clarendon Park Road)
Knighton Park Road
St Mary’s Road
The Avenue
University Road
Lancaster Road
Buses
Some bus services will be diverted because of the road closures and there will be some extra evening services.
Services that normally use London Road will divert via either St Peter’s Road (Evington services) or Welford Road and Chapel Lane (Oadby services).
Bus services that normally use Haymarket will depart from Haymarket Bus Station and will not serve Churchgate or Causeway Lane.
While the parade is in the city centre, services to and from the south of the city will use Southgates underpass, and will therefore continue to serve Welford Road stops on outbound journeys.
Services to Evington and Crown Hills will use Humberstone Road and St Peter’s Road. Stagecoach service 48 will not serve Horsefair Street or Charles Street.
All three Park and Ride services into the city will run additional buses in the late afternoon to help fans make their way into the city and Victoria Park, and will run for longer in the evening to get people back to their cars.
Park and Ride services will depart from University Road from 19.45 until 21.30.
Parking
On street parking along the parade route and around Victoria Park will be suspended on the day of the event.
All other city centre car parking will be available as usual, although entry and exit will be limited during the parade.

Taxis
A temporary taxi rank will operate from De Montfort Street (between Lancaster Road and Regent Road) to get to and from the event.
Taxis will still be operating from the station until London Road is closed, from which time they will operate from Conduit Street.
Walking and cycling
May well be the best options for getting around the city centre. It is a 30 minute cycle ride from anywhere within Leicester and a 30 minute walk from the inner suburbs.
Most walking and cycling routes within Leicester will not be affected by road closures. Some pedestrian road crossings may be temporarily out of use whilst the parade is passing, but these will re-open as the parade moves along.
If you are cycling into the city you will not be able to access the route once the road closure is in place and you may need to take a diversion.
Pedestrians should use New Walk between the city centre and Victoria Park. Cyclists should use King Street, Lancaster Road and Peace Walk.
