Deputy police and crime commissioner caused 'upset and distress' to murder victim's family
A deputy police and crime commissioner caused "upset and distress" by visiting the family of a murder victim days after he was shot in Birmingham, a disciplinary panel has found.
Allegations of serious misconduct have been proven against West Midlands deputy PCC Yvonne Mosquito and she will leave her post on Wednesday.
She did not inform officers of her plan to visit the family of Kenichi Phillips part way through the investigation into his death and has been asked to apologise to the victim's family.
An independent panel found the visit "damaged the relationship between the family and West Midlands Police "after an intensive murder investigation was set up to look into the death of 18-year-old Mr Phillips, who was killed in the Ladywood area of the city in March.
He added the family said the visit "made a difficult time much worse, caused them additional pain and grief and was disrespectful".
