In the West Midlands, elections have taken place in seven metropolitan districts (the bigger councils in the area). A 1/3 of the seats have been up for election.

Birmingham is Labour run with 77 councillors, more than double the Conservatives at 30.

Dudley Metropolitan Borough is split into 24 local electoral wards. Each of these wards are represented by 3 councillors. It's Labour run, but this is seen as a vulnerable council for the party.

Sandwell has a Labour controlled council and is divided into 24 wards represented by 72 ward councillors. Currently there are:

Solihull is Conservative controlled and the Greens are the official opposition.

Currently the Conservatives run a minority administration but it's on a knife edge. A few gains for Labour and they win power. Ukip are fielding lots of candidates, challenging in 13 of the seats.
