Parents protest over plans to cut rural school bus services
Parents in a village in Warwickshire are protesting after being told that their children may have to pay £375 for bus fees to get to school - or face a five-mile walk along unlit country roads.
The local council is planning to cut fare subsidies from Warton to Polesworth in a bid to save money.
Warwickshire County Council say that they need to save £92 million by 2018 and needs to save £1.8 million on school transport.
The council says it's had an independent assessment of the route and all sections have been "confirmed as safe for an accompanied child".
However parents say the walk to and from school is dangerous and that they haven't got the time to accompany their children.
A meeting was held last night with local MP Craig Tracey who has said he will meet with the council to discuss the proposals.
