A carer who stole more than £20,000 from an elderly woman in her care has been jailed for two years.

The family of the 87-year-old victim from Castle Vale contacted police after noticing that £12,000 had been taken from her account in several cash withdrawals.

A police inquiry began and 30-year-old carer Rachel Robinson from Davenport Drive was identified as a prime suspect.

The Post Office provided times, dates and locations of each of the fraudulent transactions in July 2015, which were then cross referenced with CCTV footage.

Robinson was arrested and admitted it was her in the footage but denied ever using the elderly victim’s card, claiming instead that she was simply doing her own banking.
