Ex-Lib Dem candidate Jason Zadrozny in court on child sex charges

A former Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate has appeared in court charged with child sex offences.

Jason Zadrozny stood for the party in the Ashfield constituency in 2010 and was selected to fight the seat in the 2015 election.

He stood down from the contest after being arrested on suspicion of sexoffences last March.

His representative Mark Oates told Mansfield Magistrates' Court Zadrozny"vehemently denies the allegations".

Zadrozny, 35, of Sutton Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, appeared at court charged with two counts of rape of a male under the age of 16 and four counts of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 16 between September 2 2003 and April 30 2004.

Zadrozny, who sits on Nottinghamshire County Council as an independentcouncillor, is also charged with three counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a boy aged 13 to 15 between May 1 2004 and September 30 2006.

District Judge Jonathan Taaffe granted Zadrozny bail and he will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court on April 27.
