Man jailed for killing friend in 'drinking game' punch
A man has been jailed for killing his friend after a drinking game went tragically wrong.
Phillip Evans died of a single blow to the head in the early hours of 11 October last year - paramedics were called but nothing could be done to save him.
The 42-year-old had been drinking with Patrick Ryan , a neighbour at his address in Blackwood Avenue, Wednesfield.
Phillip was alleged to have encouraged Ryan to punch him as hard as he could as he had never been knocked out, but the challenge ended tragically when Ryan could not revive his friend.
Ryan, aged 25, pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 22 February and has been sentenced to three years in prison today (29 March).
