Two young people seriously injured in the Alton Towers’ Smiler rollercoaster crash have raised over £14,000 for the emergency services.

Leah Washington and Joe Pugh presented a cheque for £6,000 to Staffordshire's Chief Fire Officer Peter Dartford, and the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity received nearly £9,000.

Leah and Joe were trapped on the Smiler ride following an incident at Alton Towers Theme Park on June 2, 2015.

More than 30 firefighters worked alongside medical staff for around four and a half hours to rescue the casualties.
