University of Loughborough ranked best for student experience

The University of Loughborough has been ranked as the best university for student experience, according to an annual survey.

The institution has risen one place from last year to get top honours in theTimes Higher Education Student Experience List.

Also in the top three for the first time is Harper Adams University in Shropshire, which specialises in agricultural and rural studies.

The survey polled more than 15,000 undergraduates on 21 areas of student life including the structure of courses, quality of the library and community atmosphere.

The University of Oxford came fourth while last year's winner - the University of Bath - dropped to fifth place.

Other universities in the region also ranked highly.

• 17 - Nottingham Trent University

• 18 - University of Nottingham

• 21 - University of Birmingham

Universities in London were among those ranked worse, occupying 12 of the bottom 20 places.
