Birmingham medic helps rebuild Nepalese communities destroyed by earthquake

Private Reymar Robinson from Birmingham has helped rebuild communities in Nepal

An army medic from Bordesley Green has helped to rebuild remote Nepalese communities after the devastating earthquake that hit the country in last April.

Private Reymar Robinson has been in Nepal with the 70 Gurkha Field Squadron, 36 Engineer Regiment on Operation 'MARMAT 2' - which translates to 'rebuild' in Nepali.

He was there from October 2015 until February this year, living in tents pitched in the foothills of the Himalayas. The 24-year-old has helped build schools, community centres and houses in the villages of serving Gurkhas, their families and veterans.

The earthquake killed more than 8,000 people and injured more than 21,000. The country was left further devastated after a second earthquake struck a few weeks later in May.

Private Reymar Robinson travelled to the country in October

Robinson is a Combat Medical Technician based in North Luffenham, Rutland.
