Largest garden city in UK to be built in Black Country, with development of 45,000 homes
A development that will see 45,000 new homes built across the four Black Country boroughs has been announced.
The plans have been led by the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership which will see the properties built over the next 10 years on 550 brownfield sites.
The LEP says plenty of investment has already been secured, but leaders will be at a property festival in Cannes this week looking for a further contribution.
When the development is complete it will form the largest garden city in the country, spreading across 30 towns.
The LEP says it's designed to cater for unprecedented demand for housing and to sustain record levels of private sector investment coming into the region.
It says the garden city would boost the local economy by £18billion over 10 years, and will be a major attraction for investment into the automotive, aerospace and construction sectors.
