Another Cadbury classic is to melt away into nothing but a memory. Say goodbye to the Time Out bar.

Cadbury has confirmed that it has stopped making the treat and is replacing it with a slimline single-finger version called the Time Out Wafer.

As stock runs out the Time Out is gradually disappearing from shop shelves in Birmingham and across the UK.

A spokeswoman for Cadbury said the company had discontinued the current Time Out bar because it wasn’t very popular.

But the new one doesn't seem to have found many fans so far.

The spokeswoman added that the Birmingham firm had been trialling a new version of the product, experimenting with layers of chocolate and wafer.

The new bar is called Time Out Wafer and is 111 calories per bar.

  • Time Out was made by Cadbury Ireland and first appeared in the UK and Ireland in 1992, and in Australia and New Zealand in 1995.

  • It was launched in Canada and South Africa in 2001 but sales were poor so it was axed in those countries in a few years later.

Time Out consists of two fingers of rippled chocolate - like that used in Flake - sandwiched between two wafers and covered in milk chocolate.

The first version was more substantial, weighing 50g. It was later reduced to 41g and then 32g. The Time Out Wafer will be 21.2g.
