Abuse of the elderly a 'growing concern'
The number of elderly people being abused or neglected in the Midlands is a growing concern, according to charity Independent Age.
The charity claims that thousands of adults across the region were referred for safeguarding last year.
It has launched a new leaflet to help older people and their families recognise the signs of abuse.
The charity found that the most common places for alleged cases of abuse in the West Midlands was a person's own home (44%).
In the East Midlands, the most frequent place where alleged abuse took place was in a care home (40%).
