Jamie Vardy signs new contract with Leicester City
Goalscoring record-breaker Jamie Vardy has signed a new contract with Leicester City, which will keep him at the King Power Stadium until June 2019.
Vardy, who is from Sheffield, played a key part in the club's promotion to the Premier League, scoring 16 goals in the 2013/14 Championship season.
In October 2015, he became the third player to score in eight successive Premier League appearances, equalling the scoring runs of Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy and current Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge.
He also broke an all-time Leicester record that was set more than 90 years ago by club legends Arthur Rowley and Arthur Chandler, who both scored in seven games.
Since joining City in the summer of 2012 from non-league Fleetwood Town, Vardy, 29, has completed an impressive rise to the top of the English game, establishing himself as a Premier League striker and England international just three years after his final non-league appearance.
