Police appeal after pensioner awakes to find burglar in home

A terrified pensioner awoke to find a burglar was targeting her Northampton ground floor flat while she slept.

The offenders smashed a rear glass door before unlocking it and then searched the property, in Harlestone Road, some time between 4.40am and 4.50am last Sunday.

The victim awoke to find a man inside her flat who then escaped taking with him a 32in JVC TV and some paperwork and letters belonging to the occupant.

The offender was dressed in black and wore a black balaclava and police believe a vehicle may have been used due to the size of the television.
