Pictures: Murder scene in Digbeth

Murder detectives are hunting a pair of armed robbers who shot dead a man during a robbery in Birmingham last night.

Officers were called to Direct Source 3 Ltd, at 66 Rea Street South, Digbeth, just before 6.40pm, after receiving reports that several masked men were robbing the premises.

Response officers were sent to the soft drinks distributor business and found that 56-year-old Akhtar Javeed had suffered a gun shot wound.

Despite being rushed to hospital he was pronounced dead a short time later and a forensic post mortem is now being arranged.

Officers believe that two men were involved and enquiries are on-going to track them down.
