Hundreds of pupils sent home after bomb threat calls
Six schools in the West Midlands were closed today following a series of phone calls in which bomb threats were made.
Police intelligence suggests that the threats were 'not credible', but all six schools decided to send pupils home as a precaution.
Four schools in Sandwell, one school in Dudley and one academy in Birmingham were all targeted.
Three of these - Oldbury Academy, Bristnall Hall Academy and Holly Lodge High - were also targeted with hoax bomb calls last Tuesday.
• Oldbury Academy in Pound Road, Oldbury
• Holly Lodge High in Holly Lane, Smethwick
• Bristnall Hall Academy in Bristnall Hall Lane, Oldbury
• George Slater High School in Claypit Lane, West Bromwich
• Earls High School in Furnace Lane, Halesowen
• Four Dwellings Upper School, in Quinton Road West, Quinton
Sandwell Council they supported the decision of headteachers at Bristnall Hall Academy, Oldbury Academy, George Salter and Holly Lodge High to evacuate pupils.
They added sent extra youth workers and wardens had been sent to help. The Hurst Road Community Centre in Oldbury was also opened for any students who are unable to return home until later in the day.
Four Dwellings Academy in Birmingham also confirmed on its Twitter account that it would be closing for the day.
Dudley Council also reassured parents at Earls High School in Halesowen, adding that 'there are no suggestions of any threat to any other schools in the Dudley borough'.
