Police officers cause a stir on Twitter after walking into unlocked homes and tweeting pictures

Police in Coventry caused quite the stir on Twitter after walking into unlocked homes and tweeting pictures.

The officers had been out testing doors to see if they can simply walk in.

Coventry Police say they were highlighting how easy it can be for burglars to enter without breaking in.

Coventry police officers found a number of front doors unlocked. The patrol found three houses in a row left insecure.

It's caused quite the stir on Twitter. It's led to many people questioning the legal and ethical issues.

But there were tweets of support for the patrol officers.

Officers tweeted pictures to remind people to check gates at the side and rear of properties.

For those homes that were left unlocked, officers were on hand to give advice about locking doors and keeping safe.
