The future of a school in Dudley remains uncertain after councillors voted to go out to consultation on its closure.

A crowd formed of 150 parents and pupils from Coseley School staged a protest outside of Dudley Council after they were told on Friday that the school is to close.

The proposals mean more than 550 pupils will be forced to find a new school.

Parents say they are concerned their children will have to travel further and siblings may be split up.

Councillors say the school, which can accommodate more than 1000 pupils, is running at half its capacity.

Dudley Council says the falling pupil rate has had a dramatic impact on the school's finances.

It says the decision to close the school is a 'last resort.'
