The two men, aged 25 and 32 were detained at their home address in the Walsall area under Sec 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000, on suspicion of the preparation, commission or instigation of terrorist related offences.

The offences under investigation all relate to terrorism activity connected to Syria.

Officers are this morning carrying out searches at a number of addresses in the Walsall area associated with the suspects.

The arrests were made under terrorism legislation, meaning officers have an initial 48 hours to question the suspects before charging, releasing or applying for a warrant of further detention.

The arrests were part of an on-going investigation and intelligence led - there was no immediate threat to public safety.
