Hospital bans smoking to encourage smokers to quit

The George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton has become a totally 'smoke-free' site from today, as part of its commitment to "lead the way" and "set an example" in providing a smoke-free environment to "protect and promote health."

Patients who do not want to stop smoking will be provided with stop smoking medication so they can manage without cigarettes during their hospital stay.

Smokers who want to quit can get help from NHS Warwickshire Stop Smoking Service, which is available at a number of local locations, including at the George Eliot Hospital.
